just off the coast in construction by AsterCorp. This incredible innovation will allow humanity to more easily transport materials, machines, and people into orbit without the constant need for rocketry. The base of the tower consists of a ginormous facility that works as a port for those using the elevator, as well as AsterCorp's local headquarters. The elevator's mere construction caused the uprising of the Manta Departure Zone, the corporate-run city that dominates the coast near the construction site. The city partially acts as housing for the thousands of workers that travel back and forth from the elevator every day to work. Although many workers actually live in makeshift living quarters built at various points within the elevator tower itself. Most of the construction of the primary tower is complete, so most of the workers currently work either on the ground platform or at the top of the tower that sits out of Earth's atmosphere. Working conditions are far from perfect in a project like this, with tens of thousands of deaths and injuries to its name over the decades of its construction. The harsh working conditions, and relatively low wages, for that matter, don't faze the thousands of people invested in this miraculous creation.
